Ququor

The Ququor

"Your vessel... is antiquated and crude."
―A Ququor (via telepathy)[src]

The beings called the Ququor (or The Others, as they refer to themselves), are an extremely isolationist alien species who make their home outside of the Galaxy itself. The one world they are known to inhabit orbits a black hole that is itself located within a nebula found in the halo region of the galaxy, 'below' the spiral arms.

The Others made themselves known to the crew of the Bad Luck when they were attracted by Tam Dawncaller's gift of interplanetary travel through the Force. The Others accused the Bad Luck's crew of trespassing in their dimension, but did not explain if they were referring to hyperspace, or another, unknown dimension altogether. Furthermore, they did not disclose whether they reside in this alternate dimension permanently, or merely travel through it. One thing is clear, however; for better or worse, Tam's further use of this power will likely not go unnoticed by The Others.

Citing an interest in keeping Tam safe from the galaxy (and the galaxy safe from Tam), The Others requested that the boy remain with them, in the nebula. Not wishing to take the beings up on their offer, the Bad Luck's crew escaped the alien vessel and, despite the destruction of the Bad Luck, were ultimately rescued by the crew of the Koralak.

The Others are two-and-a-half meter tall willowy beings, whose flesh glows and pulses with an eerie bioluminescence. Their language is based on extremely complex melodies and harmonies, though they are able to understand Basic, and can make their thoughts known in this language telepathically. They travel in what could potentially be a huge armada of starships, which share the same bioluminescent qualities of their pilots.

If forced to deal with outsiders, The Others prefer to employ an elaborate system of holograms, instead of meeting face-to-face. Whether this is for safety reasons or simply a deceit meant to put other beings at a disadvantage is not known.
